时值中埃建交 70 周年，本单元集中展映埃及优秀影像作品，以尼罗河畔的文明底色为脉络，聚焦埃及市井生活、时代变迁与民族精神，展现埃及电影当下的创作活力与艺术表达。镜头穿梭于开罗街巷与大漠长河，细腻描摹埃及社会百态与人文风貌，以银幕为桥，搭建文明互鉴的纽带，让观众沉浸式感受埃及电影的多元魅力，进一步深化中埃两国的文化交流与民心相通。

To mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, this section features a curated selection of outstanding Egyptian films. Rooted in the ancient civilization along the Nile, these works focus on everyday Egyptian life, changing times, and the national spirit, showcasing the creative vitality and artistic expression of contemporary Egyptian cinema. The camera travels through the streets of Cairo and across vast deserts and rivers, intimately capturing the diverse facets of Egyptian society and its cultural landscape. Serving as a bridge, the silver screen fosters mutual learning, allowing audiences to immersively experience the multifaceted charm of Egyptian cinema, thereby deepening cultural exchange and mutual understanding between China and Egypt.

In this poignant debut feature, eight-year-old Toha works as a child maid for a wealthy Cairo family and forms a special bond with her employer's daughter, Nelly. Having never celebrated her own birthday, Toha becomes determined to ensure Nelly has a perfect party, secretly hoping to experience the joy she's never known. As Toha's relationship with Nelly's mother, Laila, begins to transcend typical employer-servant boundaries, deep-rooted social hierarchies are threatened, forcing the young girl to confront the harsh realities of class division in modern Egypt.

Set during the diversion of the Nile current in 1964 during the building of the High Dam. The foreground of the film shows Yehia as a worker in the high dam project. Later, we will understand that Yehia is not a real worker but a committed writer, tired by years of activism.
